Word Processing

A word processor enables you to create a document, store it electronically on a disk, display it on a screen, modify it by entering commands and characters from the keyboard, and print it on a printer. Of all computer applications, word processing is the most frequently used for the production of materials. To engage in word processing, you need a computer, a program called a word processor, and if you want to be able to generate a printed document, a printer.

Word processing software allows you to make changes without retyping an entire document. You can easily correct a typing mistake, delete a paragraph, insert a word, sentence, or paragraph in the middle of a document. You can also move sections of text from one place to another within a document, or between documents.

As a teacher, you can use word processing to modify documents for different tasks, age groups, or ability levels. You can adapt documents made during one school year for this year's classes. In addition, with the use of tools such as the thesaurus, it is possible to replace common words with more appropriate language, providing greater meaning to your writing.
