Undoing the New "Features" in Office 2000  

To Turn off the "feature" that hides" the menu items in the toolbar, go to the  View | Toolbars | Customize...  menu item and on the Options Tab uncheck the "menus show recently used commands first" option.

To Turn off the "feature" that hides tools / buttons that you do not often use, go to the View | Toolbars | Customize...  menu Item and on the Toolbars Tab and check the toolbars that you wish to view on a regular basis. Then select the Reset button and choose "reset changes made to standard toolbar for "Normal" and click OK. Close the dialog.

You have now undone what Microsoft did for you with it's latest release of Office 2000.  Yea! for you.
