1. Click the Start button in the lower
left-hand corner of the screen, highlight Programs, then Microsoft PowerPoint
2. Choose the "Template" radio button
and click "OK"
3. Try some of the different presentation
designs that are available by clicking on the named icons and looking at
the preview window.
4. Once you have found one that you
like click "OK"
5. Choose the layout for your new
slide from the new slide dialog
6. Click in the text box (dashed lines)
to add the text for your first slide
7. Click on the button in the toolbar
that appears to sparkle, this inserts a new slide, now repeat step

8. Experiment with the different views
that are available…the buttons to allow you to switch amongst views are
located in the lower left portion of the screen, they appear as a series
of boxes and lines.
9. Slide Show view gives you the full
screen version of your presentation just as your audience will see it.
10. Slide sorter view allows you to
drag slides from place to place and insert effects and transitions.
11. Slide View allows you to edit
individual slides to add or remove content.
12. You may add animations, sound
effects, clip art, or external graphics (such as those found on Web pages)
to your presentations. Experiment!
13. Keep in mind that while effects
are valuable in a presentation, they can be overdone. You want a consistent
look and feel throughout your presentation. If you are going to use transitions
form one slide to the next, use the same one throughout. Place animations
sounds and graphics appropriately where they will add meaning to your presentation.
