Evaluation Methodology and UnderlyingTheory
In
assessment of the lessons presented and their associated projects,
alignment with appropriate SOL strands, quality, nature (selection and
use of appropriate applications), level of technology integration, the
cognitive depth of the material being covered – and the use of
higher – order thinking skills by students experiencing the
lesson are considered. The level of detail provided within the
procedure of the lesson plan is also a major consideration.
More advanced
uses of technologies presented in Application Overviews (such as the
development of non-linear hypertexts, development of media that
communicate with elegance in a non-verbal manner or online projects
that approach a subject from multiple perspectives) are rewarded within
our assessment scheme. Finding applications of software capability
where the student’s learning (critical thinking) is brought into
the center of the learning exercise is the focus of our evaluative
efforts. While learners
perform at many different levels, their personal advancement within the
time frame of the Tech Trek II experience is captured by this method of
evaluation.
